The USA TOMAHAWKS is the national team of the American National Rugby League and thus represent the very elite Rugby League players in this country.
At all levels of Rugby League, (from youth to international) the pinnacle of a players achievements would be to represent their country. It is an honour many players strive to attain but very few are able to achieve.
Selection as a Tomahawk presents a player with the opportunity to represent the USA both at home and abroad on the world stage. Those fortunate enough to have joined the select group of Tomahawks know that as this game grows, so to will the demands of maintaining this honour.
The beauty of all sports and specifically Rugby League is that you are only as good as your last game. At the international level the incarnation of a player can be shortlived and the opportunity of the next best in line (assuming your position) makes the honour of representing your country so precious.
The 2011 season saw the USA Tomahawks take on Ireland for the Donnybrook Cup in March, then Canada in home and away internationals in preparation for the Rugby League World Cup Qualifiers. This Atlantic Region Tournament will be hosted by the AMNRL and contested by the USA, Jamaica, and South Africa in Philadelphia in October. The winner of this bracket will advance to the 2013 Rugby League World Cup to be hosted in the United Kingdom.
